Alphonse Areola has been named in the France international squad for the upcoming 2024 UEFA European Championship qualifying matches.
Goalkeeper Areola is one of three shot-stoppers named in Didier Deschamps' squad for the March fixtures, along with AC Milan's Mike Maignan and Brice Samba of RC Lens.
Following the international retirement of former France No1 Hugo Lloris in January, Areola will be seeking to stake his claim to the starting spot for his country.
France's opening Euro 2024 qualifier will see Les Bleus welcome the Netherlands to the Stade de France in Paris on Friday 24 March, with kick-off set for 7.45pm GMT. Areola and his teammates will then travel to Dublin to face the Republic of Ireland at the Aviva Stadium on Monday 27 March, with kick-off at 7.45pm BST.
Part of the France squads that lifted the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and finished as runners-up in 2022, Areola has five caps to his name with the national side.
