West Ham United's new-look Supporter Advisory Board met for the first time at the Boleyn Ground on Tuesday evening.
As part of the Club's plans to revamp its supporter consultation strategy, the SAB has undergone a transformation in recent weeks and months.
A modified selection process has led to the creation of a slightly smaller overall group, but one that is designed to better represent the diversity of the Club's fans. The new group, therefore, comprising of 66 members, represents a cross section of all ages, genders and backgrounds of the wider supporter base.
Press and Media Manager Paul Stringer kicked off proceedings with an overview of the Club's supporter consultation strategy, of which the SAB is naturally a pivotal part.
As previously outlined, the new SAB are now to represent the Club in external settings. With that in mind, there was discussion of Ofcom's current enquiry into the impact of Barclays Premier League broadcasting rights on match attendees, particularly where 3pm Saturday kick-offs are concerned. It is thought likely that supporters' trusts and groups will be asked for their opinions and feedback on the matter.
Elsewhere, with a commemorative kit for the final season at the Boleyn Ground now just around the corner, the Club are reaching out to fans to gather and record special memories from the Hammers' 110 years and counting at the Boleyn.
An array of the Club's classic kits from down the years
The process was launched on Tuesday evening, with SAB Members having earlier been asked to bring along pictures of their favourite kits and explain exactly why they are so special.
Those pictures and stories will contribute toward a final record of all the shirts West Ham have worn at the Boleyn Ground will be used to tell the history of the Club on our website and elsewhere in the years to come.
Now that the SAB have got the ball rolling, the Club are to invite the wider fanbase to have their say in the coming weeks.
