West Ham United Ladies will show their support for the Dylan Tombides DT38 Foundation prior to their FA Women’s Premier League South fixture against Lewes Ladies on Sunday.
The whole West Ham United family joined Tombides’ close friends and family in remembering the Australian-born striker on the one year anniversary of his death on Saturday.
The Ladies players and staff will wear DT38 Foundation t-shirts during their pre-match warm up ahead of their meeting with Lewes.
Last year, West Ham Ladies lost a player of their own at the age of 20 when youth star Katie Sheppard sadly passed away in June and as a club, know just how damaging a tragedy like this can affect families, friends and teammates.
Ladies captain Stacey Little is proud to be able to support the DT38 campaign and wants to help the Foundation share their vital information about how testicular cancer can be diagnosed.
“Everyone is aware of how big of a killer cancer is but people may not be aware of how to check for the important signs that could save your life,” said Little. “This is why the DT38 Foundation is a fantastic cause to support.
“They want to provide testicular cancer care, support and awareness around the world and educate about how it can be diagnosed correctly.
“As a West Ham fan and a Ladies player I am very proud to be able to pull on that DT38 shirt and show my support for a great cause, not only for one of our West Ham Family but for many others that this cause could help save their lives”
Tracylee Tombides, Founder of The DT38 Foundation and Dylan’s mother, added that she is delighted to have the West Ham Ladies on board with the campaign and hopes that they can be a firm part of sharing the important message that early diagnosis of testicular cancer is paramount in the fight against the deadly disease.
“The DT38 Foundation are delighted to be joining forces with the West Ham Ladies,” she said. “It is our aim together to raise awareness and provide education about testicular cancer, a disease that if misdiagnosed or ignored is deadly.
“As women we need to be aware of this disease to ensure our sons, brothers, fathers and partners recognise the importance of self-awareness and early detection.”
For any supporters wanting to attend Sunday’s Ladies fixture against Lewes, kick-off at Rush Green is at 2pm, with admission priced at just £3 for Adults and £1 for Concessions. Parking is completely FREE for all supporters!
