Fan blogger Mark Carlaw reflects on Saturday's defeat to Everton...
The lack of ruthlessness was once again evident as we tasted defeat on Saturday against an Everton side that, like us, have struggled for consistency this season.
Earlier in this campaign we played with a lot more conviction, and had a wonderful habit of taking our chances. However those days appear to be long gone, as we once again lacked confidence in front of goal, and more worryingly lacked confidence at the back.
It's hard to put my finger on why we have a nasty habit of conceding late goals. It's almost like the team expect it to happen, much like us fans - and it's something we need to eradicate from our game, and fast.
Our match against Everton was our last at the Boleyn Ground this season, and reflecting back this season has to be taken as a success. However there are no doubt many like myself who feel frustrated that we didn't push on after what was an excellent first half of the campaign.
We are now gearing up for what must be the most important summer of preparation for our final season at the Boleyn, and I'm sure the owners have the wheels very much in motion in what I suspect will be a busy summer for our club.
We are a club certainly on the up, and I feel with a few more additions to add quality and depth to our side, we could seriously mount a challenge to be a top six Premier League club.
