The Wharf’s Jack Pinnock looks ahead to today’s game against Everton…
It was one of the most disappointing performances of the season at Watford last week, especially given the fantastic start.
It will be important for West Ham to bounce back today, but their record against Everton is not great at all! However, it’s a new style of play that Everton have got to come up against and the Hammers have put a few of those bad records away this year.
It seems to have been the way this year that West Ham have beaten the elite teams, but found it tougher against the Bournemouths and the Watfords. Not only that, but the first half performances in those games has been the only downfall of the season so far.
They will try and rectify that against Everton, and with the memories still fresh of last year’s FA Cup tie, they’ll want more of the same again.
I think West Ham have every chance really – there’s strength in depth now. Collins is suspended, but to have the likes of Ogbonna and Reid to come back shows the quality in the squad.
It’s a shame that Sakho is out, because the combination of Sakho and Valencia worked well last season. Zarate has resurrected his career at West Ham too, so there are options there.
It will be a tough game, but an intriguing one to watch for sure.
