Cheikhou Kouyate was full of praise for Andy Carroll after he scored the winning goal against Chelsea and feels he has been rewarded for all the hard work he has put in over the last few months.
Carroll was a regular at the Club's training ground throughout the close season, even when most of his team-mates were enjoying their summer holidays and has now enjoyed a full pre-season.
The West Ham United striker came off the bench on Saturday with just over 20 minutes left on the clock and the England forward had a moment to remember when he rose the highest to meet a cross from Aaron Cresswell and direct a powerful header past Asmir Begovic into the corner of the net to hand the Hammers a 2-1 victory over the Premier League champions.
Kouyate was one of the first to celebrate with Carroll and hopes there are plenty more goals to come from the talented striker over the coming weeks and months.
Kouyate said: “I am very happy for Andy. He is a nice guy and has worked so hard to get back to full fitness.
“He wanted to score and it was an unbelievable goal against Chelsea.
“It is great that we are third in the league. We just need to take it game by game and then see where it takes us.
“I am happy with my form and to play so well against Chelsea. But it is about the whole team and everyone played well from Adrian through to Sakho.
“Andy Carroll has come on and done well. It is about all the players and we are one team. We need to carry on this good form and stay positive.
“The start has been very good for all the players. The staff have worked very hard and all the players have enjoyed a good start to the season.”
