West Ham United are delighted to announce that highly-rated keeper Raphael Spiegel has signed a two-year extension to his contract.
Spiegel has been working closely with Adrian and Darren Randolph this season and has been a regular member of the first-team squad.
The Switzerland international has been rewarded for his impressive form with a new deal which will see him stay at the Boleyn Ground until 2018 with a view to signing for a further two-years.
The 23-year-old keeper joined the Hammers back in 2012 and has enjoyed loan spells with Crawley, Barnet and Carlisle United.
The talented keeper has been waiting patiently for his chance, but with the historic move to the new Stadium during the summer, he was keen to pledge his long-term future to the Club.
Spiegel insists he is relishing the chance to work under Goalkeeping Coach Chris Woods and hopes he will be given his chance to show he can compete at the highest level.
Spiegel said: “I am very happy to extend my contract at West Ham United and am excited about the move to the new Stadium.
“It is great to work with Adrian and Darren. They have great experience and you can always learn from them. It can only make me better.
“It is also great to work with Chris. Since he has come to the club I have improved so much under him. I am very happy to work with him and if I can carry on doing that for the next two-years I am only going to get better.
“Everyone wants to play and I want to get more game time and show what I am about. This is an exciting time for the Club and I want to stay part of the West Ham family.
“With goalkeepers you need to be a little bit more patient as only one can play but I believe I can do it. West Ham is a very good place to be at the moment and everyone can play to their best.
“The manager is doing an amazing job and let's see what we can achieve this season.”
