Scottish U21 international Hendrie has joined Southend on a one month loan
West Ham United left-back Stephen Hendrie has joined Southend United on an emergency loan until Tuesday 16 February.
The Scottish U21 international has featured regularly for the Development Squad since joining the Hammers from Hamilton Academical in the summer.
The Scot, who can also play in central defence as well as on the left-wing, has impressed during 12 appearances for the Dev Squad and has been on the first team bench on several occasions.
Hendrie will join Phil Brown’s side in time to face Peterborough United on Saturday 16 January, where he could line up against fellow West Ham loanee Martin Samuelsen.
Brown will be hoping Hendrie can help Southend push for a Play Off spot come the end of the season. The Shrimpers are currently ninth in League One with 37 points from 25 games.
