- Edimilson Fernandes makes his full international debut in Switzerland's 2-0 win over Faroe Islands
- Darren Randolph and Simone Zaza also victorious in European World Cup qualifying
- Cheikhou Kouyate and Sofiane Feghouli both suffered defeats in African qualifying
Edimilson Fernandes made his Switzerland debut as his country defeated the Faroe Islands 2-0 in their FIFA World Cup qualifier on Sunday.
Fernandes, 20, replaced Valentin Stocker in the 69th minute of Switzerland's victory in Lucerne, as Vladimir Petkovic's side continued their perfect start to the qualification process.
Eren Derdiyok and Stephan Lichtsteiner scored the goals to round off matchday four in European World Cup qualification.
The Club's four international representatives had a mixed Saturday in 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying.
The Hammers' two European stars - Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph and Italy striker Simone Zaza - were both victorious.
However, in Africa, both Senegal's Cheikhou Kouyate and Algeria winger Sofiane Feghouli were on the losing side in their respective qualifiers.
Randolph was again impressive as his clean sheet ensured James McClean's second-half strike secured Ireland a valuable win in Vienna. Ireland end 2016 unbeaten and two points clear at the top of Group D.
Italy are level on points with Spain at the top of Group G, where Zaza appeared as a late substitute in the Azzurri's 4-0 victory in Liechtenstein.
In Africa, Kouyate started and completed the full 90 minutes for Senegal, but the Lions of Teranga were beaten 2-1 in South Africa in Group D. The result leaves Senegal third in the group, with four matches still to play.
Finally, Feghouli was a late substitute for Algeria, but was powerless to prevent Nigeria scoring a 3-1 win in Group B. Two of the Nigerians' goals were scored by former West Ham loanee Victor Moses, with the result leaving Algeria bottom of the group with just one point from their two matches.
