West Ham United will host Chelsea in the EFL Cup fourth round following their dramatic 1-0 third-round victory over Accrington Stanley.
Slaven Bilic’s side will welcome the Blues to London Stadium next month in the third League Cup meeting between the two London clubs. West Ham scored a 1-0 third-round win at the Boleyn Ground through Don Hutchison’s goal in 1994, while the Blues edged a fourth-round tie at Stamford Bridge by a single goal in 2004.
This season’s fourth round ties will be played on Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 October. A confirmed date, kick-off time and ticket information will follow in due course.
The Hammers made it through to the last 16 thanks to Dimitri Payet’s superb free-kick in the sixth minute of added-time, which saw off the challenge of the League Two side at London Stadium.
West Ham were cheered on to victory by a 39,877-strong crowd – the second-largest home League Cup attendance in the Club’s history, and biggest since 40,878 watched a fourth-round replay with Liverpool at the Boleyn Ground in October 1971.
