West Ham United Ladies’ preparations for the new FA Women’s Premier League season continued this week with a successful open trial session at their Chadwell Heath training base.
The Ladies, who have already enjoyed a busy summer with the appointment of Jack Sullivan as Managing Director, Karen Ray as General Manager, and Greg de Carnys as First Team Manager, and the arrival of Rich Energy as their Official Energy Drink, ran the rule over 60 potential players with the new campaign less than two months away.
With more than 250 youngsters also signed up for junior trials, these are exciting times for West Ham United ladies and Karen Ray is thrilled with the progress being made.
She said: “It was great to see 60 participants attend the senior open trial on Tuesday at Chadwell Heath. The standard of aspiring female players of all ages 16 upwards was extremely encouraging to see and serves as further fuel for the excitement building around the Club’s new ambitious five-year plan.
“Our coaching staff, led by Greg de Carnys, are certainly leaving no stone unturned to ensure we provide a professional culture that is competitive, educational, enjoyable and development-centred. Players will be mentored as individuals as they embark on a journey to the top of the elite women’s game as a West Ham United Ladies player.
“Personally, I am extremely inspired and grateful by the interest and support we are receiving both on and off the pitch. My passion is female participation and in the last week we have seen over 400 girls of all ages playing football and we will therefore be opening Player Development Centres to provide everyone a place to play with the help of West Ham United Foundation.”
The trials continue on Saturday with opportunities for players in the U10s and U12s age groups to try out for a place with the Hammers. Interested players should register by clicking here.
