Visalli: 'Everything worked out perfectly' in Charlton win

Brianna Visalli believes everything came together for West Ham United as the side secured a 4-0 pre-season win away to Charlton Athletic.

The midfielder scored her first goal for the Hammers in Sunday's match, as the Irons strolled to a comfortable victory at Oakwood VCD.

Jane Ross opened the scoring on the day before Visalli found the net just a few minutes later. It was the beginning of an excellent first half of football for the Irons, as they stormed into a 4-0 lead, as Esmee De Graaf and a trialist also got on the scoresheet.

Speaking on Sunday's performance Visalli told whufc.com: “It’s pretty nice to see some of the things we’ve been training on for the past month come together.

It’s pretty nice to see some of the things we’ve been training on for the past month come together. Everything worked out perfectly.

“Everything worked out perfectly, because in the past few games we’ve had the same type of connections or goals that didn’t come off, so it’s nice to finally be rewarded. It’s really encouraging.”

The midfielder continued: “It’s been a grind, especially as we didn’t see out the Manchester United game. It’s nice to see out a game and get a clean sheet.”

Striker Ross gave the Hammers the lead after just ten seconds of football in this weekend's friendly, before Visalli stepped up to net her first finish for the women's side.

The midfielder latched onto a through ball before calmly slotting past the goalkeeper, and Visalli is delighted to pay back the fairth shown in her by the coaching staff with her strike.

Speaking on her goal, Visalli said: “It definitely feels good. I feel honoured to even wear this shirt and it’s really nice to see it finally pay off. The coaches believe in me, Karen (Ray) believes in me and to finally prove that type of belief on the field is really nice and rewarding.”

With the 2017/18 season set to begin in less than two weeks away, when West Ham will take on Arsenal in the Continental Tyres Cup, Visalli reckons the Irons have shown they are ready for tests the campaign will throw at them.

Visalli said: "I think we still have a lot of things to work on, but the awesome thing is that we all have high ceilings. It's not that we have high expectations, but we hold ourselves to high standards.

“I can’t wait for the season to start and to continue these games, and I think everyone saw that today with the 4-0 win.”

West Ham's final pre-season game will see the women's team take on Lewes next Sunday.
