West Ham United youngster Marcus Browne was on target for his loan club Oxford United on Tuesday evening, but was unable to prevent them from falling to a 3-2 defeat at home to Accrington Stanley.
The 20-year-old midfielder linked up with the League One side ahead of the new season and has started their last three matches.
He put Oxford 2-1 up at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday, cutting in from the left to score a superb solo goal, but Accrington hit back with two Billy Kee goals in the final half-hour turning the game on its head.
Browne now has two goals in four Oxford appearances, having also scored in the Carabao Cup victory over Coventry City.
Meanwhile, Toni Martinez made a goalscoring start to his loan with Spanish Segunda Division side Rayo Majadahonda in their opening league fixture on Sunday.
He replaced Zinedine Zidane’s son Enzo from the bench, and got on the scoresheet with five minutes to go, but Real Zaragoza held out for a 2-1 victory.
Elsewhere, Martin Samuelsen made his second appearance for VVV Venlo in the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday as they suffered a heartbreaking last-minute 1-0 defeat to Ajax, with former Southampton man Dusan Tadic scoring from the spot.
