Brianna Visalli believes the Hammers will give a strong performance this Sunday as West Ham United travel to the South West to take on Yeovil Town in the FA Women’s Super League.
Last weekend the Irons earned three important points at Brighton & Hove Albion, as Jane Ross scored the winning goal in the second half.
Now the Irons face the final league game of 2018 against Yeovil Town, with the Glovers currently in eleventh place, ten points behind the Hammers.
Visalli said: “We saw our hard work come to fruition in the second half at Brighton. The second half was more about combinations.
“Something Matt [Beard] said has really stuck with me in that Sunday wasn’t a pretty game but we still had quality, and that’s what great teams have. It’s encouraging for us and for us players that are getting used to this league.
“We’re really pleased. It was a couple of games that we felt we should be winning, but that being said we knew it wasn’t going to be a walk in the park. Sunday was chippy and we lost what we were doing a bit in the first half but in the second you saw some of the things we’ve been working on in training.”
A win this Sunday could keep the Irons sixth in the table, but Visalli knows they will have to work hard to get it.
She added: “I think it’s crucial that we have that quality because now we’re starting to see some of those combinations and that quality in the squad.
“We’re understanding how to really work with each other and I’m really pleased that we scored in this way against Brighton. We showed what we can do as a group with our technical ability and tactics. It was really pleasing to see.”
