Rosie Kmita was delighted that the Irons could round off December and 2018 with a 2-0 win against Charlton Athletic Women in the Continental Cup.

A header from Kmita opened the scoring at the start of the second half, while Alisha Lehmann doubled the lead and sealed the victory 10 minutes later.

Kmita was happy with how the team battled out the first half against tough opposition to seal the Hammers place in the next round.

The midfielder said: “I think coming in to this game we had an expectation that it was going to be a battle and it certainly was that.

I’m really proud of the whole team that we were able to grind the first half out and the goals came for us in the second half

“I think we took it in our stride, we dug deep when we needed to, especially in the first half when we weren’t finishing our chances.

“I’m really proud of the whole team that we were able to grind the first half out and the goals came for us in the second half.”

Kmita was delighted with how the Irons managed the first half and scoring the first goal to give the Hammers some momentum in the second half.

Kmita said: “The first 20 minutes we always knew was going to be that way, they’re very direct when they play. It was always going to be us managing that, as I said and as Matt (Beard) said, we’re very pleased with that.

“I’m really happy with scoring, especially the first one which gave us a bit of momentum going forward. I’m pleased for the team as well.”

Kmita was thrilled with how the team were able to round off December, scoring eight goals and conceding none.

“It’s been a very positive December for us,” Kmita added: “We’re just looking forward to having a little break now, we deserve it.

“We’ve had a good start to the season, and we want to get back at it as soon as we can. It’s been a really good month and a great way to round off the year.”
