Jane Ross has cited the ‘exciting plans’ in place at West Ham Ladies as the reason behind her decision to move to east London.
Ross completed her transfer to West Ham on Monday, after just over two years with Manchester City, joining the likes of Claire Rafferty, Gilly Flaherty and others in penning deals at the Irons.
The 28-year-old is eager to get going and believes the ambition shown by the Hammers is a huge positive for the upcoming season in the Women’s Super League.
“There are some exciting plans in place at West Ham,” Ross told whufc.com. “They really interested me and I wanted to be a part of them.
I’ve come here to help the team. I want to be challenging and hopefully we can win some silverware together.

“I’ve come here to help the team. I want to be challenging and hopefully we can win some silverware together.”
Ross joins the Irons as head coach Matt Beard prepares his side for their first season as a professional outfit in the WSL, and the Scotland international believes her new team has all the qualities needed to battle at the top end of the table.

She continued: “For West Ham it’s the first year as professionals, but the restructuring of the league is definitely exciting for women’s football, and it’s great to see the game moving in that direction.
“We’re a new team in that regard, and we’re not going to be naïve and think we’re going to win all the trophies. I think we’ve got a good group of players here, and hopefully we can challenge at the top.”
The former Glasgow City attacker has opened up about her style of play, and is looking forward to entertaining the West Ham fans in the coming season.
“I’m definitely an attack-minded player,” she insisted. “I like to create and score goals, and I’m hopeful I can bring that to the team. I like to be in and around the box, and I want to be quick onto the balls into me. I want to put the ball into the net.”
Having won the WSL, the FA Women’s Cup and the FA WSL Continental Cup with Manchester City, Ross is now eager to bring similar success to West Ham.
Ross added: “I learned a lot during my time at Manchester City, we were challenging for trophies and hopefully I can bring that experience and winning mentality to the team here.”
