Ryan Fredericks has all the attributes necessary to make the step-up to the Premier League with West Ham United – that’s the verdict of tactical expert and former Arsenal midfielder Adrian Clarke.
Speaking to premierleague.com, Clarke believes Fredericks’ pace and ability to provide accurate deliveries from the flank will offer Manuel Pellegrini’s side a useful option in attack, while his mobility in defence will also help his side keep the opposition out.
25-year-old Fredericks arrived in east London last month, fresh from helping Fulham gain promotion to the top-flight with a Championship Play-Off final success against Aston Villa.
Now, after 106 appearances at that level for the Cottagers, Clarke says his game will suit that of the Hammers.
He said: “Fredericks was exceptional throughout the 2017/18 Championship campaign for play-off winners Fulham.
“Excellent at knocking the ball out of his feet before bursting past opponents on the outside, Fredericks’ acceleration will be a fresh weapon for the Hammers inside the final third.
“Solid in the tackle, good on the ball, and always looking to join in with build-up play, Fredericks will add power and energy to Manuel Pellegrini’s side.”
With 78 dribbled completed last term and 50 successful crosses, Fredericks is sure to provide an outlet down the right for the Hammers and Clarke is excited to see him play at the highest level.
He added: “When West Ham’s central defenders find themselves in difficulty, they can rely on Fredericks to slide across quickly to lend a hand. Providing cover is one of his greatest strengths.
“His defending will be tested to the full, but after shining so brightly at Craven Cottage Fredericks is ready to make the step up.”
