Becky Spencer believes there was little to separate West Ham United and Chelsea FC Women, despite the Hammers falling to a 2-0 defeat on Sunday.
Ramona Bachmann scored in the 63 and 85 minute to help the Blues secure all three points at Rush Green Stadium in a game where West Ham were more than up for the fight, putting on a competitive showing.
After the game Spencer told West Ham TV: “I think in the first half we battled, and we contained them in most parts of the game. I think it just came down to fine margins.
I think the game came down to fine margins. I think the difference was just being clinical.

“We defended really well, and they made a few chances, but so did we to be fair. I think the difference was just being clinical and just putting it in right at the end.”
Spencer won the first of the NicheSolutions West Ham United Player of the Match award, after pulling off some incredible saves, including a brilliant one-on-one to deny Fran Kirby.
Spencer added: “I’d take the three points over a personal performance, but obviously it’s nice to make saves. The defence did really well today, Gilly Flaherty had a really good game today, she was heading everything, defended and lead us really well.
“It’s disappointing, but it’s something that we can move on from and take forward in to the next game.”
There is now a two-week international break between now and the next game for the Irons against Birmingham City Women.
Spencer is hoping her side can recover a few players from injury before the next game.
“We’ve just got to keep our heads down and hopefully we can have a few injured players back by the Birmingham game as well.
“It’s something we’ve been struggling with, the numbers, I think we only have 12 players fit, so it’s just something that we’ve got to move on from. Hopefully, we can get all of our players fully fit for the Birmingham game.”
