Jordan Hugill netted his first two Championship goals of the season as Middlesbrough claimed a 2-0 victory over Wigan Athletic.
Hugill, spending the season on loan in the north-east from West Ham United, struck from the penalty spot on 38 minutes to give Boro the lead, before lashing home a powerful effort from inside the box just before half-time.
The 26-year-old, who has made 12 appearances for the Middlesbrough first team this season, also had a great opportunity to net a hat-trick, seeing a one-on-one effort denied in the second half.
Hugill’s brace moved Middlesbrough into second in the Championship, two points behind current leaders Norwich City.
Edimilson Fernandes made an appearance from the substitute bench for Fiorentina on Friday as the Serie A side drew 1-1 away to Frosinone.
The 22-year-old was brought on after 66 minutes, with Fiorentina leading thanks to Marco Benassi’s finish, but an 89th minute leveller by Andrea Pinamonti ensured the points were shared.
Fernandes has made 11 Serie A appearances for Fiorentina since joining the Italian team on season-long loan, with the side drawing 1-1 in their last four league matches.
Elsewhere, Marcus Browne played the full 90 minutes for League One Oxford United in their FA Cup first-round match at home to Forest Green Rovers.
A difficult afternoon for the home side saw the League Two visitors enjoy the better of the chances, although Oxford were able to hold on and secure a replay, which will be contest on Tuesday 20 November.
Toni Martinez was an unused substitute for Rayo Majadahonda in Sunday’s Segunda Division fixture, with the team winning 2-0 against Almeria courtesy of goals from Aitor Ruibal and Aitor Garcia.
