Two-goal Lehmann feeling good after Reading win

Alisha Lehmann says she is feeling good after her two goals helped West Ham United pick up an important three points against Reading on Wednesday.

The Swiss international scored either side of half time at the Madejski Stadium to earn her side all three points and put the Hammers in a great position heading into the international break.

The victory, courtesy of Lehmann’s seventh and eighth goals of the season, meant West Ham leapfrogged Reading in the table and moved up to sixth.

The No7 bagged her first on 20 minutes when Cho So-Hyun won the ball in the middle of the pitch and played her through on goal to put the Irons 1-0 up.

The winger scored her second just after the start of the second half when, again, So-Hyun won the ball, assisting Lehmann to find the back of the net once again.

I’m feeling really good that I scored two goals finally again in the league.

After the game Lehmann said: “I’m really happy that we got the 2-1 win against Reading. I’m feeling really good that I scored two goals finally again in the league.

“Cho and I work so good together in the game because she’s a really good player and she passes really good balls.”

Reading scored from the penalty spot to put some pressure on the Hammers, but Lehmann had all the confidence in her defenders to prevent the Royals from equalising.

The winger continued: “I think at the end it was a little bit dramatic because it was from one end to the other, but I think our defenders are so good at heading, nobody can go over them.

“Now we have good confidence and we are really happy. We’ll get rested up and we’ll be ready for the next game against Everton.”
