West Ham United’s 2018 was undoubtedly an up and down year, with memorable victories, forgettable defeats, fantastic goals and stunning saves along the way.
Statistically, however, the Hammers ended the last 12 months with an even record across all competitions.
Overall, the Irons played 44 matches in 2018, winning 17, drawing ten and losing 17. In those 44 games, West Ham scored 66 goals and conceded… 66!
In the Premier League, the Hammers amassed 51 points from the 38 games they played, winning 14, drawing nine and losing 15, scoring 53 goals and conceding 60.
Individually, Marko Arnautovic led the way with eleven goals, followed by Chicharito with nine and Felipe Anderson with eight.
Nineteen different players shared 65 of those 66 goals, with the other coming courtesy of an own-goal from Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof in West Ham’s 3-1 Premier League win at London Stadium in September.
Arnautovic also led the way with eight assists in all competitions, followed by Robert Snodgrass with seven.
At the other end of the pitch, West Ham's three 2018 goalkeepers Joe Hart, Adrian and Lukasz Fabianski combined to keep ten clean sheets.
The Irons had two managers in 2018, David Moyes and Manuel Pellegrini, who between them selected a grand total of 40 players in first-team matches.
Appearances-wise, Declan Rice led the way with 38, followed by Pablo Zabaleta with 35, Mark Noble on 34 and Marko Arnautovic and Chicharito with 31.
Only 32 of Rice’s appearances were starts, however, with Zabaleta leading the way in that category with 34.
Chicharito made more substitute appearances than any other player, with 15.
Minutes-wise, Zabaleta led the way with 3,028, just 104 ahead of Rice on 2,924.
No fewer than 17 players made their debuts for the club in 2018, starting with Toni Martinez in the FA Cup third-round draw at Shrewsbury Town on 7 January and ending with Xande Silva’s late appearance in the Premier League game at Burnley on 30 December.
Finally, West Ham’s 44 matches were attended by a grand total of 1,958,654 supporters – an average of 44,515 per game.
