Moses Makasi's loan spell with EFL League Two side Stevenage got off to the perfect start as he helped Boro to a 2-1 victory over Crawley Town on Saturday.
The 23-year-old started on the right hand side of midfield as Jimmy Ball's double took the home side to all three points.
Elsewhere in League Two, Vashon Neufville was an unused substitute as Newport County were defeated 3-2 at Crewe Alexandra.
Moving up a division, Marcus Browne started in Oxford United's 2-2 draw at Fleetwood Town. The U's found themselves 2-0 down after just 26 minutes at Highbury, but a second half comeback secured a share of the spoils.
In the Championship, Middlesbrough kept their promotion charge going with a 2-1 success at Birmingham City. Jordan Hugill played 70 minutes of the St Andrew's clash.
Heading overseas, Toni Martinez featured for Rayo Majadahonda in their 1-1 La Liga 2 draw at Cordoba, playing an hour at the Estadio El Arcangel.
Majadahonda's point keeps them a point ahead of the bottom four in Spain's second tier.
