Arthur Masuaku played the full 90 minutes for DR Congo in Saturday's Africa Cup Of Nations clash with Uganda, losing the contest 2-0.
In the second match of the competition, after Egypt's opening win on Friday, goals from Uganda's Patrick Kaddu and Emmanuel Okwi in either half inflicted the defeat on the two-time AFCON champions.
Kaddu opened the scoring for the Cranes on 14 minutes, heading in from a corner after a well-timed run to the near post, while Okwi doubled the tally just after half-time with a glancing header of his own.
Substitute Jonathan Bolingi has the best chance for Congo, as his header clipped the cross-bar.
The result leaves Masuaku and DR Congo bottom of Group A after one match, but with all to play for in the remaining two games.
The West Ham United left-back and his national team colleagues return to action on Wednesday against Egypt.
