Loan watch: Cullen, Byram and Powell enjoy victories

Josh Cullen was in superb form again as Charlton Athletic secured third in the League One table with a 4-0 thrashing of Rochdale at The Valley.

Lee Bowyer’s Addicks will take on Doncaster Rovers in the semi-finals after former West Ham youngster Kieran Sadlier scored a vital goal for the Yorkshire club in a 2-0 win over Coventry City to help them snatch the final Play-Off spot.

Marcus Browne played the full 90 minutes on his final appearance for Oxford United, but was unable to prevent Karl Robinson’s side from going down 3-1 at champions Luton Town, for whom former Hammers George Moncur and Elliot Lee shared the goals.

Elsewhere in League One another former West Ham youngster, Kieran Sadlier, scored a vital goal for Doncaster Rovers against Coventry City to help the Yorkshire club snatch the final Play-Off spot.

Sam Byram continued his strong finish to the season by playing the full 90 minutes as Nottingham Forest defeated relegated Bolton Wanderers 1-0 in their final Championship fixture at the City Ground, meaning Forest finished the season in ninth place.

Joe Powell and Oladapo Afolayan were in opposition in League Two, where the two youngsters appeared as second-half substitutes for Northampton Town and Oldham Athletic respectively in the Cobblers’ 5-2 win at Boundary Park.

In Italy, Edimilson Fernandes started for Fiorentina but ended on the losing side as the Serie A side were beaten 1-0 at home by relegation-threatened Empoli. With three games to play, Fiorentina are 13th in the table.

In Norway, Martin Samuelsen started for Haugesund in their 2-1 home defeat by Molde in the Eliteserien. The attacker played for the opening 76 minutes before being replaced.

In Sweden, Sead Haksabanovic was introduced as a substitute with 23 minutes remaining as Norrkoping drew 0-0 at Elfsborg in the Allsvenskan – their fifth draw in seven league matches.

Jordan Hugill was an unused substitute as Middlesbrough missed out on a Championship Play-Off place, despite winning 2-1 at relegated Rotherham United, as was Reece Oxford for Augsburg’s goalless Bundesliga draw at Schalke in Germany and Toni Martinez as Lugo defeated Almeria 4-2 in Spain’s Segunda Division.

Neither Moses Makasi nor Vashon Neufville were involved for Stevenage and Newport County respectively in their final League Two fixtures.
