If West Ham United fans learned one thing from this year’s women’s Halloween video, it is that Cecilie Redisch Kvamme scares easily.
It’s a common occurrence at the Rush Green training ground. Fellow players and members of the coaching team will jump out at Redisch Kvamme, trying to provoke a reaction. Without fail, they get one.
“I don’t know why I scare so easily!” the Norwegian international told the newest edition of the Official Women’s Matchday programme, available at tomorrow evening’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup clash with Lewes.
“You’ll have to ask my parents. I think something must have happened to me as a child, because they must have traumatised me. It’s definitely worse here than it was in Norway, because my teammates are always trying to scare me.
“Every single day, someone jumps out at me or throws something at me, just to make me scream. Gilly Flaherty likes to film herself hiding and then jumping out at me to get a reaction. I genuinely think she’s going to make my heart stop one day. I’m trying to get my payback, but they don’t scare like I do. I need to properly organise something…”

The 24-year-old finds the entire situation amusing. At least, she does once her pulse has slowed back down.
West Ham’s No2 knows that it is a sign of affection, highlighting the incredible team spirit in the women’s squad.
She continued: “We’re one big group. There’s no factions or splits. You can literally talk to everyone in our squad. Everyone is so nice and friendly.
“When you walk in at the start of the day, it’s hugs all round for everyone, which immediately puts you in a good mood when you walk in. We all work together and look after each other, which I love.”
Moving to West Ham in the summer continued what has been an incredible 2019 for Redisch Kvamme. Having made her international debut at the start of the year, the defender was in Norway’s squad for this past summer’s World Cup and is now playing regularly for the Irons.
“It’s been a huge year for me,” she added: I’ve played for my nation and also moved to West Ham, becoming a full professional. I would say it’s been my biggest year so far but, at the same time, I’m kind of scared to say that because you always want things to get even bigger and better.
“Hopefully 2020 can bring even more for both me and West Ham!”
