“I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
Dmitri Halajko was appointed Lead Coach of West Ham United U23s at the tail end of June – and his side haven’t looked back since.
Unbeaten in 15 matches since taking charge, Halajko joined the Academy of Football from Leicester City in the summer and has gone on to lead his players to a simply remarkable start to the new campaign.
The former Norwich Academy Lead Coach has taken to his new role with aplomb, instilling within his squad a commitment to sharp, attacking football that has seen them score 22 times and win all but one competitive fixture so far this campaign.
Amongst those impressive results have been a number of big tests for Halajko’s U23s team – none more so than a top-of-the-table league clash with nearest challengers Manchester United at the world-famous Old Trafford last month.
Ahead of the mouth-watering fixture, Halajko invited West Ham TV to follow him in his preparations for the game as part of the new series, The Academy of Football. Covering everything from the training pitch to the tactics board, you can watch the first episode above.
West Ham United U23s continue their Premier League 2 Division 2 campaign at home to Sunderland at the Chigwell Construction Stadium on Sunday 29 September, with kick-off at midday.
