Cecilie Redisch Kvamme has conceded that West Ham United need to work on their play in both their own and their opponent’s penalty boxes after losing 2-0 at home to Tottenham Hotspur.
Goals in each half from Rianna Dean and Lucy Quinn saw the Hammers first-ever Barclays FA Women’s Super League match at London Stadium end in defeat on a rainy Sunday afternoon in Stratford.
Redisch Kvamme, making her first start in the league since joining the Irons in the summer, was thrilled to make history with her new side but can see the team needs to improve when they return to action following the international break.

“It’s disappointing to not get any points,” the right-back told whufc.com. “But as you were saying, we were making history, and I hope that this is just the first of many matches that we will play here.
“It’s hard to tell what didn’t go right. The first half was not good. We struggled with the relations and distance between us. In the second half, we did much better and we got the ball down and played how we wanted to play.
“I think we had a lot of chances to get some goals so it’s disappointing. Of course, we can’t let them score two goals either, so we need to work in both of the boxes.”
The fixture at London Stadium attracted 24,790 supporters – the second highest ever attendance in Barclays FA Women’s Super League history – and Redisch Kvamme was delighted to make her first league start in front of so many supporters.
The defender hopes this match is the first of many at London Stadium for her and the rest of the women’s team.
She continued: “It’s amazing. I’m so proud of what the Club are doing for us, and as I said I just hope that this is just the first of many games. It’s amazing to play in front of the West Ham fans.”
The defender will now head off on international duty with Norway, as the nation looks to secure their place at the 2021 European Championships.
“I’m very excited,” she added. “It will be two tough games but we have to win both of them so we can qualify for the Euros.”
