Martha Thomas believes West Ham United grabbed a very important three points with a dominant performance in what was huge game against Bristol City.
The Scotland international got on the score-sheet for the Irons at Twerton Park, helping the Hammers to a highly-deserved 4-0 win against the Robins.
Thomas also provided a well-placed assist for Emily van Egmond’s finish, with Rachel Daly also getting a goal after the opener was put into the wrong net by a Bristol City defender, and the No9 was delighted with both the team performance and her own individual efforts.

“I think I did good. I’ve been waiting for my goal so I’m glad it came right at the end. To get that, get an assist, and to help my team out with the win, I’m really pleased with it. I think the whole team had really good intensity going forward during the whole game, so we can be proud of that.”
The three points against Bristol City comes after a very encouraging performance in defeat last time out, away to reigning Barclays FA Women’s Super League champions Chelsea, and Thomas feels the Hammers are starting to show their qualities across the pitch after a difficult start to the campaign.
A clean-sheet achieved on Sunday, as well as four goals scored, are a strong platform to build from for the side.
She continued: “I don’t think it’s necessarily down to anything changing. We know we’d been underperforming and we’re better than the results we had been getting.
“We put it on Chelsea last week and made it a difficult game for them, and I think we were really disappointed with a couple of the goals we conceded against them, so getting the clean-sheet today was equally as important.
“We know the threat we have going forward, so the goals we got will help with confidence too.”
The year will come to an end at home to Aston Villa for West Ham United next weekend, and Thomas is determined to end 2020 with another three points to help push the side further up the division.
“It’s another really important game against a team around us in the table,” Thomas added. “It’s a big three points up for grabs and there is no reason we can’t put on a performance like this one against Aston Villa.”
