Pablo Fornals has been nominated for the Premier League’s EA Sports Player of the Month award for October.
Spanish attacking midfielder Fornals is rewarded for a superb month that included goals in the 3-0 win at Leicester and 2-1 defeat at champions Liverpool, as well as his assist for Jarrod Bowen’s late strike at King Power Stadium.

An important member of David Moyes’ team, Fornals has started all seven Premier League matches this season, scoring two goals and registering two assists.
October saw the No18 play all but 13 of a possible 360 minutes of Premier League football and help the Hammers collect five points from fixtures against Leicester, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Liverpool.
The month began with the 24-year-old’s best game in a West Ham shirt in the memorable victory at Leicester.
Fornals scored the Irons’ second goal, controlling Aaron Cresswell’s long clearance with a superb first touch before finishing clinically past Kasper Schmeichel, then supplied the through ball for Bowen to score the third.
In addition, he completed a team-high 90.9% of his passes and made three key passes, while he also helped out on the defensive side as the Hammers kept a welcome clean sheet, making three interceptions and a tackle.
After starting the 3-3 draw at Tottenham, Fornals impressed again in the 1-1 draw with Manchester City at London Stadium.
Against City, Fornals’ work-rate, ability to keep possession and attacking threat all came to the fore, as he completed 84.9% of his passes and also fired in two shots on goal.
The month ended with another eye-catching display at Anfield, where Fornals also scored in West Ham’s 3-2 Premier League defeat last season.
This time around, he opened the scoring with a well-taken goal in front of The Kop, controlling Joe Gomez’s clearance before shooting low past goalkeeper Alisson.
Fornals could have added to his tally, too, seeing one shot saved by the Reds goalkeeper and another blocked by Andy Robertson.
The popular Spain international also made more passes than any other West Ham player in a game the Irons were unfortunate to lose 2-1 late on.
