The final international break of 2020 sees eight West Ham United players head off with their respective nations, while six could be in action in a vital set of Euro 2021 qualifiers.
Read on for all the information you need to know about the coming West Ham United women’s internationals in action…
Who is playing?
Six of the eight West Ham United players called up for international duty could be set to feature for their country in the coming days.
As the host nation, England automatically qualify for the European Championships next summer, and will therefore only participate in a training camp at St George’s Park. Hammers duo Grace Fisk and Rachel Daly have once again been included in Phil Neville’s squad.
In Group D, Katerina Svitkova and her Czech Republic international teammates are still within a shout of automatically qualifying for the tournament Finals next summer. They play Moldova in their final qualifying fixture.
A win could potentially put the Czech Republic top but, with Spain holding two games in hand, it is more likely that Svitkova and her colleagues’ best chance of reaching Euro 2021 will come via second place in Group D.
With only half of their qualifying matches in Group E played so far, Scotland will still harbour hopes of also qualifying for next summer’s Finals. Hammers striker Martha Thomas will be hoping to lead the line when the Scots take on second-placed Portugal on Friday before playing group leaders Finland next Tuesday, in what is a crucial week for their qualification hopes.
Kenza Dali and her France teammates are already assured of at least a play-off place after five wins from six games in Group G. With two fixtures in this international break, against second-placed Austria and winless Kazakhstan, Dali and France could have their spot at the Euro 2021 Finals completely secured by the end of the international window.
Much like her Hammers colleague Dali, Alisha Lehmann also knows she and her Switzerland side are certain of at least a play-off position in Group H. With six wins and a draw from seven games, Switzerland need to avoid defeat away to second-place Belgium on Tuesday in order to finish top of their pool and bank their place at the tournament Finals.
Finally, Leanne Kiernan and Courtney Brosnan could both be in action when the Republic of Ireland take on Germany in their final Group I contest next Tuesday. Ireland, in second-place, cannot catch group winners Germany, but will need to better Ukraine’s result to be certain of at least a play-off place.
