Emily van Egmond says West Ham United must show faith in their ability when attacking in order to get back to winning ways.
The Hammers fell to a 3-1 defeat away to Everton on Sunday, despite controlling large portions of the match. Kenza Dali’s second league goal of the season had levelled the fixture at Walton Hall Park but, while the Irons were the better team for the majority of the second period, Lucy Graham’s double secured the win for the Toffees.
Van Egmond feels there were a number of positives to take from the performance, even though the result was not the one the Irons wanted, and says there is work to do at both ends of the pitch for the team.

“We need to have a bit more belief in the front third,” the Australian international said. “We have some spells during the game where we do really well but then we just let ourselves down when we get to that final third, whether it’s down to decision making or just backing ourselves.
“On the flip side, we also need to be a little bit better on set-pieces. We can’t be conceding goals like that.
“All in all, it’s a disappointing result for us. We need to get some points on the board, but there are also positives to take from the game too.”
Sunday’s fixture marked Van Egmond’s fifth outing in Claret and Blue since moving to the Irons on loan from Orlando Pride, and the midfielder is enjoying life in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and with West Ham.
The 27-year-old’s focus is now on helping the Irons secure more points and climb up the table, starting with this Sunday’s clash with Manchester United at Dagenham & Redbridge Stadium.
Van Egmond added: “I’m settling in well. The team has been really welcoming. We’ve had a really busy schedule since I joined, so it’s been good to get into a routine with the squad.
“We’re all just looking to next weekend now, against Manchester United, to try and get a better result.”
