Andriy Yarmolenko and Ukraine booked their place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 thanks to a 2-1 win over Sweden.
A last gasp winner from Artem Dovbyk – his first goal for his county, sent his side through to the next round, where they will now take on England in Rome on Saturday.
It was an end-to-end contest at Hampden Park, with both sides hitting the woodwork on several occasions in the first half.
The 31-year-old captained his country and assisted Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko for the opening goal of the contest.
Sweden hit back just before half-time, when Emile Forsberg’s effort found its way into the back of the net by aid of a deflection.
Both sides traded blows in a hectic opening 60 minutes in Scotland, with Yarmolenko the focal point for Andriy Shevchenko’s side – cutting in a number of times on the right hand-side and creating opportunities for himself and his team-mates.
The pace dropped significantly for the remaining minutes of normal time, with both sides seemingly resigned to be going to extra time.
Swedish centre-back Marcus Danilson was sent off in the first half of extra time for a poor challenge on Artem Besyedin, which left the forward unable to continue.
Yarmolenko was also forced off with an injury just before the break in extra time.
The Ukrainians looked the more likely to win the game as it drew to a close – and Dovbyk converted from close range with only minutes remaining to spark wild celebrations from the lowest ranked nation left in the competition.
This is the first time that Ukraine have reached the quarter-finals of the European Championships.
Yarmolenko and Ukraine will now travel to Rome to take on England on Saturday 3 July, 8pm.
