Jesse Lingard’s sensational performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers has seen the forward become the tenth West Ham United player this season to be selected for EA SPORTS' FIFA 21 Team of the Week.
The England international’s inclusion is a just reward for a fine display at Molineux on Monday, where – having opened the scoring with a superb solo goal – the No11 was involved in the build-up to two further first-half strikes, assisting Jarrod Bowen’s in a thrilling 3-2 win.
Lingard’s selection means that West Ham players have been included in no fewer than ten of a possible 28 Team of the Week squads released by EA’s premier football gaming title so far this season.
The double Premier League Player of the Month nominee has been chosen for a second time this season, after previously being included following his debut brace against Aston Villa in February.
Last week, Tomáš Souček recorded his third nomination of the campaign for his exploits on international duty, adding to previous nods for Bowen, Lukasz Fabianski, Vladimir Coufal and Angelo Ogbonna (also selected twice).
As a result of his inclusion, Lingard’s FIFA Ultimate Team card receives a second upgrade, with the forward’s overall rating rising to 84 from an original ‘base’ rating of 77 at the season’s opening.
Lingard’s FIFA card now offers plenty in terms of pace (85, up from a base 77), shooting (84, up from 74), dribbling (86, up from 78) and passing (84, up from 74).
The versatile forward is also classed as a Central Attacking Midfielder (CAM) in the game - an important position in many popular FIFA 21 formations.
Lingard has been a rip-roaring success in Claret and Blue since joining West Ham on loan from Manchester United in January, recording nine goal involvements (six goals, three assists) in eight league games – a Premier League high since his debut.
West Ham United fans will be able to collect Lingard's Team of the Week card in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team packs as of 6pm on Wednesday 7 April. The card will be available until 5.59pm on Wednesday 14 April.
