West Ham United to welcome Atalanta to London Stadium in 2021 Betway Cup

West Ham United will play Atalanta in the 2021 Betway Cup!

The Italian Serie A side, who have emerged as one of the most exciting teams in Europe over the past few seasons, will visit London Stadium on Saturday 7 August, with kick-off at 3pm.

The showpiece fixture will provide David Moyes’ Hammers with top-class opposition in their final pre-season match ahead of what promises to be an exciting 2021/22 season at home and abroad.

And with COVID restrictions being lifted by the Government from Monday 19 July, tens of thousands of West Ham supporters will be able to return to London Stadium to cheer on their Claret and Blue heroes.

Tickets will be priced from just £10 for Adult Season Ticket Holders and £5 Junior Season Ticket Holders, and £15 Adults and £5 Juniors via General Sale.

Tickets are on sale to Season Ticket Holders and Bondholders from 9.30am on Monday. Full sales dates and ticket prices can be found by clicking here.

Hammers skipper Mark Noble is excited by the prospect of the Claret & Blue Army returning home in numbers for the Betway Cup clash.

"I got a bit emotional when we had 10,000 fans back for the Southampton game, as I was thinking I'm not going to have too many more moments like these as a player, so the atmosphere now we can have full crowds back in is going to be fantastic," he said.

"It's going to be lovely to have the fans back and I can't wait to see them in the stands week-in, week-out.”

Based in the northern Italian city of Bergamo, Atalanta have enjoyed the best period in their 114-year history over the past five seasons.

Experienced manager Gian Piero Gasperini has led I Nerazzurri (The Black and Blues) to European football in each of those five seasons, including the club’s first ever UEFA Champions League campaign following the first of three consecutive third-place Serie A finishes in 2018/19, and the Italian Cup final in 2019 and 2021.

Like West Ham, Atalanta have sought to recruit hungry, energetic players to fit Gasperini’s style of play, which has resulted in them scoring over 100 goals in each of the previous three seasons.

The club provided two members of Italy’s UEFA Euro 2020-winning squad in midfielder Matteo Pessina and centre-back and captain Rafael Tolói, and their squad also includes eye-catching players including Colombia forwards Duván Zapata and Luis Muriel, Ukraine attacking midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi, Denmark full-back Joakim Mæhle and Germany wing-back Robin Gosens, among others.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the two historic clubs.

A Code of Conduct will remain in place as the Club work in line with Government and Premier League protocols. Further information will be communicated to attending supporters in due course.

Tickets for this match will be distributed by email to supporters, to download to your phone or device, or to be printed at home.

Everyone at West Ham United is looking forward to welcoming our loyal supporters and Atalanta’s management, staff and players to London Stadium.

Please note that fixture details are subject to change.
