It’s fair to say that not many people would have fancied West Ham United Women to pick up all three points at the Academy Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Hammers had lost every league match they’d played against Manchester City, but this time around things were different. With a plucky and hardworking attitude, Olli Harder’s side picked their moments to venture out from their organised shape and hit City on the counter attack.
It was a memorable win for the east Londoners, a feeling that they will be hoping can become more and more regular as the season goes on.
