Team News: Harder names opening day team for trip to the Amex

Olli Harder names his first starting XI of the new Barclays FA Women’s Super League season as West Ham United take on Brighton & Hove Albion at 2pm.

There are six competitive debuts in the line-up, with Abbey-Leigh Stringer, Zaneta Wyne, Lisa Evans, Yui Hasegawa, Mel Filis and Claudia Walker all lining up in Claret & Blue for the first time.

On the bench, Anna Leat, Lucy Parker, Brooke Cairns and Grace Garrad would also make their debuts for the Hammers if Harder elects to use them.

Kateřina Svitková and Maisy Barker miss out due to long-term injuries, but have been making considerable progress with their individual recoveries.

Dagný Brynjarsdóttir is unavailable for selection this afternoon after suffering concussion during training this week. The club are therefore following FA return to play protocols.

All of those that are sidelined today due to injury have travelled with the squad, and will be cheering their teammates on from the stands.

Tameka Yallop is not yet available for selection as we await confirmation of her visa from the home office.

West Ham United: Arnold, Wyne, Flaherty, Cissoko, Fisk, Evans, Stringer, Filis, Hasegawa, Leon, Walker.
Subs: Leat, Longhurst, Garrad, Cairns, Parker, Joel.

You can watch all the action at the Amex Stadium this afternoon from 1:55pm on the FA Player.
