Declan Rice produced an Individual Performance of the Season award-winning display for West Ham United against Arsenal - capped by his match-winning first senior goal - on this day in 2019.
Just two weeks after the Academy of Football graduate had put pen-to-paper on a new long-term contract, the then-19-year-old showcased the complete sum of his talents with a battling, creative - and ultimately decisive - display at London Stadium.
Rice was outstanding that afternoon in the deep-lying midfield role, and topped his showing by controlling a first-time finish into the top corner from Samir Nasri’s pass three minutes into the second half.
His celebrations at the time - and at the full-time whistle in the 1-0 win - said it all.
"I think you can see in the celebration how much it meant to me!” Rice later told West Ham TV. “I wanted to jump in with the fans, to be honest, because they’re the ones who support me every week and show me the love but I would have got a yellow card, so I didn’t do that! It was a special moment."
