Fantasy Premier League - Which Hammers are leading the way?

Even with the 2022/23 Premier League season reaching its conclusion, there is still plenty to play for with regards to Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

The Hammers host Manchester United on Sunday in their penultimate home fixture of the campaign, with four matches left in total, including the Red Devils, to decide which managers top their respective FPL leagues.

As we approach the business end of the season then, let’s have a look at which Hammers are leading the way!

Goalkeeper - Łukasz Fabiański (£4.9m)

No surprises here. For goalkeepers in Claret and Blue, Łukasz Fabiański comfortably leads the way. While Alphonse Areola has shone in the UEFA Europa Conference League, it has been Fabiański who has been collecting the FPL points, with the No1 recently moving past a century of points in the Hammers’ 1-0 win over Fulham last month.

Owned by 1.2 per cent of FPL players, the former Poland stopper’s best showing in 2022/23 came against Leicester City, despite a 2-0 defeat back in November. At London Stadium, Fabiański picked up nine points thanks to a penalty save, minutes, bonuses and also other saves.

The No1 has also recorded eight points on four occasions this season - Aston Villa (a), AFC Bournemouth (h), Southampton (h) and Fulham (a).

Defender – Kurt Zouma (£4.4m)

Top of the points charts for West Ham defenders is Kurt Zouma, who has picked up 87 points in 2022/23. The centre-half has proved to be a crucial part of the Hammers’ defence over the past weeks, although a recent ankle injury means David Moyes may be without his No4 for a few weeks.

Aguerd and Zouma

It will be a blow to West Ham and also FPL managers with Zouma amongst the points in recent fixtures.

Of course, the Lyon-born defender, who is owned by 1.8 per cent of FPL players, saw his best showing come against AFC Bournemouth in October last year, where he recorded 15 points for a goal, minutes played, bonuses and a clean sheet.

Zouma has recorded double figures in a Gameweek on one further occasion this season. Against Everton, eleven points arrived courtesy of a clean sheet, an assist, a bonus and minutes played. Aaron Cresswell (£4.7m) with 66 points and Thilo Kehrer (£4.3m) with 58 points complete the top-three scoring defenders this season.

Midfielder – Jarrod Bowen (£8.0m)

Jarrod Bowen was an FPL manager’s dream signing last season, scoring 12 goals and racking up an incredible 17 assists on his way to a career-best 206 points. And while those heights have not been met this season, Bowen has still delivered in abundance.

As it stands, no Hammer has recorded more FPL points this season than Bowen with 125. The No20 has ten goal contributions in the Premier League and has seen huge hauls come in fixtures this season.

Bowen, who has an ownership of 3.6 per cent, recorded 16 points against Everton thanks to two goals, minutes played, bonuses and a clean sheet, a final total which marks his best FPL performance of the season. Declan Rice (£4.7m) with 101 points and Saïd Benrahma (£5.5m) with 91 points complete the top three FPL-performing midfielders at West Ham.

Forward – Michail Antonio (£7.0m)

In Claret and Blue, the top FPL performing Hammer has been Michail Antonio, who has registered 78 points in 2022/23. Owned by 2 per cent of players, Antonio has impressed in recent weeks, with two goals and an assist in his last three matches.

And while the No9 is yet to reach double figures in an individual Gameweek he has still managed to boast a respectable best Gameweek haul of eight points, which arrived against Fulham in October last year.

Antonio looks to be set to continue leading the line in the next weeks and as a player who often finds his form during the run-in, will look to smash through the 100-point mark between now and the end of May.

Gianluca Scamacca (£6.6m) with 41 points and Danny Ings with 29 points complete the top three for Hammers’ strikers in 2022/23.
