Goals: West Ham 2-1 Aston Villa

West Ham United secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at London Stadium on Sunday thanks to second half strikes from Andriy Yarmolenko and Pablo Fornals.

Yarmolenko came off the bench to make his first appearance since the crisis engulfing his country broke out, and he smashed the deadlock in fine style 20 minutes from time, taking Saïd Benrahma's cross under his spell with a tremendous piece of control before finishing beyond Emi Martínez.

Twelve minutes later, Pablo Fornals added a second, racing into the box to finish Benrahma's low cross after he was released down the left by Declan Rice.

The double strike was deserved reward for the Hammers, who were the team on the front foot throughout, although they were grateful for a fine save from Łukasz Fabiański for keeping the score at 0-0 when he turned Danny Ings' close range effort onto the post.

Jacob Ramsey ensured a nervy finish by scoring a consolation in the final minute, but West Ham navigated the seven minutes of added time to secure a massive three points.
