West Ham United U21s fought from a goal behind to claim a valuable 1-1 draw away to Arsenal in Premier League 2 Division 1.

The Irons headed to the LV Bet Stadium in good form ahead of Friday's fixture, with the development team winning five of their previous six league matches, and almost got an early opportunity when George Earthy and Divin Mubama combined.

Kamarai Swyer went close for the Irons on 30 minutes, turning a left-footed shot narrowly wide from a tight angle, before the midfielder interchanged with Mubama to get another effort away.

Arsenal took the lead in the second half, amid a good spell for the hosts, when winger Joel Ideho collected possession and unleashed a powerful strike from the edge of the box. The ball found the net via the post, putting the north London side a goal ahead.

Mubama, Dan Chesters, Freddie Potts and Junior Robinson played some neat football to create a chance not long after, but the big opportunity to equalise came with just eight minutes left as Keenan Appiah-Forson was fouled in the penalty area.

Striker Mubama made no mistake from 12 yards, confidently blasting his penalty into the net to level the match.

Both sides went close to securing all three points in a frantic finale to Friday's fixture, but the honours were even at Meadow Park come the final whistle.
