West Ham United fought valiantly against Barclays FA Women's Super League champions, Chelsea on Wednesday evening, but were ultimately beaten 2-0 at Kingsmeadow.
Beth England came off the bench to put the Blues ahead after a goalless first half where the Hammers had chances. Erin Cuthbert secured victory eight minutes from time after her deflected effort flew into the bottom corner.
This was a first defeat in five league matches for Olli Harder's side, who will now turn their attention to a Vitality Women's FA Cup fourth round tie, which takes place on Sunday 30 January 2022.
