First-half goals courtesy of George Earthy and Divin Mubama secured a vital 2-0 win for West Ham United U21s in Friday's home clash with Leicester City U21s.

Earthy latched onto Mubama's clever through-ball to coolly slot home early in the first half at Rush Green Stadium, before the striker was awarded a penalty not long after.

Mubama stepped up to calmly dispatch the resulting spot-kick, doubling the Irons' lead on 20 minutes.

The No9 went close to doubling his own, personal tally for the game with a close-ranged header before Dan Chesters saw a low effort cleared off the line early in the second half.

Regan Clayton fizzed a low effort past the far post before Kamarai Swyer saw an attempt saved late on, with Leicester failing to truly trouble the Hammers defence or goalkeeper Krisztián Hegyi.

The win puts the Irons eleventh in the 14-team Premier League 2 Division 1, three points above next week’s opponents, Tottenham Hotspur, and ahead of Wolverhampton Wanderers on goal difference.
