Krisztián Hegyi of West Ham United

Krisztián Hegyi named in first senior Hungary international squad

West Ham United's Krisztián Hegyi has received his first call-up to the Hungary international senior squad.

The 19-year-old goalkeeper has been named in Marco Rossi's 25-man team for Hungary's friendly fixture with Estonia and their 2024 UEFA European Championship  qualifying Group G tie against Bulgaria later this month.

The Budapest-born shot-stopper has represented his national side since U16s level and most recently played for the U21s in a defeat by Denmark in November.

Hegyi will now receive his first taste of senior international football as one of three goalkeepers named for Hungary's upcoming two matches.

The West Ham U21s captain, who has been included in several first-team matchday squads in recent weeks, has been called up alongside Ferencvárosi TC's Dénes Dibusz and Patrik Demjén of Zalaegerszegi TE.

Hungary will play Estonia in a friendly on Thursday 23 March, with kick-off set for 6.30pm GMT, before hosting Bulgaria in their first UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying match on Sunday 27 March at 7.45pm BST.

Both matches will be played at the Puskás Aréna Park, in Hegyi's home city.

Everyone at West Ham United congratulates Krisztián on his first senior international call-up.
