Halle Houssein

Midfielder Halle Houssein joins West Ham United Women

West Ham United Women are pleased to announce the signing of Halle Houssein, who joins the club on a dual-registration basis from Arsenal.

The 17-year-old midfielder made her Barclays FA Women’s Super League debut for the Gunners in September 2021, coming off the bench in a 4-0 victory over Reading.

Houssein has also featured on the bench for Jonas Eidevall’s side numerous times this season, including against Manchester United in the WSL and against HB Køge in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Houssein has also represented England, captaining the U18's squad earlier this year!

And Houssein will now make the move across London to the Hammers, in the hope of building on the experiences that she has had in North London.

“I’m delighted to join West Ham United”, Houssein told West Ham TV. “It's such a family club and everyone here has been really welcoming. The intensity has been really high in training so it's been good!

“I’m an aggressive player, I like to run a lot and work hard for the team. I like to win the ball back and play through balls and long passes.

“I’m really looking forward to developing here and learning from the world class players at the club.”

Olli Harder spoke of the opportunity that he hopes the Hammers can provide the young midfielder.

“We’re really pleased to welcome Halle to West Ham United,” the New Zealander said.

“Arsenal have done a great job so far in developing a good young player and we feel as though we can provide Halle with the opportunity to take the next step in her development.

“She’s a young English talent that’s from the local area, and that fits firmly into our ethos of developing players from within our community.”

Houssein, who is the Hammers' second signing of the January transfer window after the signing of Emma Snerle, will wear the number 33 shirt and is available for our match WSL match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Everybody at West Ham United would like to welcome Halle to east London and wishes her all the best during her time in Claret and Blue.
