Roberta Moore enjoyed being part of the celebrations in East London as West Ham United returned home after their UEFA Europa Conference League triumph over AFC Fiorentina.
The daughter of West Ham United legend Bobby Moore was amongst the players and staff to parade the Club's first major trophy since 1980, with the team traveling past the thousands that had lined the street from former home at Upton Park to a special reception held at Stratford Town Hall.
Hammers captain Declan Rice is only the second ever to lift a European trophy for West Ham, after a first European triumph saw Moore lift the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1964/65.
And speaking as the parade began, a stone’s throw away from Upton Park, Roberta reflected on the memories that she had of her father at the famous stadium.
“It’s brilliant that we’ve started [the parade] here,” she began. "I’ve got so many wonderful memories of going into the ground to watch my dad train or playing here.
“You can see how much the team means to so many people and it’s such a brilliant achievement to win the competition. I couldn’t be happier for everyone involved – it’s taken us a long time and now every deserves to really celebrate what we’ve achieved.”
Roberta joined the team as they were taken through the streets of East London on a near-two-hour journey to Stratford, where they then headed up onto the balcony that has been assembled to party with the masses that had gathered just over a mile from London Stadium.
And coming from a family of Hammers, she was delighted to be able to share the moment with the team and the Claret & Blue army.
“It’s amazing, I feel so honoured to be representing my dad here with the team. The family are all West Ham supporters and it’s amazing to be part of these special celebrations.
“It’s been a really long time coming and I think you can see that from the atmosphere and the way that people are celebrating here today with such passion.
“This has been a long season, but for it to culminate with us winning this trophy is fantastic.”
As part of BT Sport’s live coverage of the 2-0 victory over the Italians, 1965 European Cup Winners’ Cup winner Brian Dear was interviewed at the Eden Arena.
Roberta says that it was a very touching moment to see one of her father’s teammates representing those winners in Prague.
“I was watching the game and I thought Brian spoke so well. It really was touching and he showed the watch that the team of 1965 were all given.
“It was lovely to have him there representing those past winners – that was a brilliant achievement, and now that has been matched by this group.
“Life moves forward and hopefully there will be another trophy to celebrate next year!”
