Tomáš Souček and Czech Republic suffered FIFA World Cup heartache on Thursday night when they fell to a 1-0 Play-Off defeat to Sweden.
The Czechs were hoping to book a Play-Off final against Poland for a shot at a place in this winter's finals in Qatar, but were edged out in Solna.
There was nothing to separate the sides over the first 90 minutes, although the visitors almost took victory at the death when Souček crossed and Milan Havel fired wide.
The game went to extra time and Sweden prevailed thanks to a goal ten minutes from the end.
Robin Quaison was the scorer, tucking home from close range after he exchanged passes with Alexander Isak on the edge of the box.
It means Sweden progress to the Play-Off final, while Czech Republic will now take on Wales in a friendly on Tuesday.
