David Moyes has named his West Ham United starting XI and substitutes for tonight’s Carabao Cup fifth-round tie at Tottenham Hotspur.
Ben Johnson returns from a four-match absence after suffering a hamstring injury in the home Premier League win over Chelsea on 4 December, while fellow defender Ryan Fredericks is named among the nine substitutes and returns for the first time since appearing as a substitute in the UEFA Europa League Group H win at Rapid Vienna on 25 November.
Moyes hands a third senior start to 20-year-old full-back Harrison Ashby, who featured twice in this competition last season and impressed in his recent appearances in the UEFA Europa League Group H tie with Dinamo Zagreb and Premier League fixture at Arsenal.
And Alphonse Areola maintains his position as West Ham’s Carabao Cup goalkeeper, with Darren Randolph on the bench and Łukasz Fabiański is given the night off.
In the continued absence of Aaron Cresswell, Arthur Masuaku starts his third game in a row and appears for the sixth consecutive match in all competitions.
With Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna continuing their respective recoveries from hamstring tendon and knee injuries, Craig Dawson and Issa Diop are united again at the heart of the defence.
In front of them, Declan Rice captains the team alongside his usual midfield partner Tomáš Souček.
Manuel Lanzini starts at the stadium where his last-gasp equaliser denied Tottenham a Premier League victory in October 2020, with Croatian Nikola Vlašić starting in the Carabao Cup for the second round in succession.
Rice and Lanzini both started when West Ham came from two goals down at Wembley Stadium to beat Tottenham 3-2 in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup in October 2017.
And with Michail Antonio absent from the matchday squad following a positive COVID test, Jarrow Bowen leads the forward line.
