Coufal

Team News: Coufal returns from injury for home finale

Vladimír Coufal returns to the West Ham United starting line-up for Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Leeds United.

The Hammers No5 is back in the side for the final home game of the 2022/23 season after recovering from a hamstring injury he picked up earlier this month at Manchester City.

Coufal is one of six changes from the side which defeated AZ Alkmaar on Thursday to reach the UEFA Europa Conference League final.

Łukasz Fabiański takes his place as the regular Premier League goalkeeper, with Angelo Ogbonna, Emerson, Pablo Fornals and Danny Ings the other players who come in.

We can still climb the table if we win games and that is what I am looking at

Fabiański will line-up behind a back-four comprising Coufal, Kurt Zouma, Ogbonna – who scored in our 2-1 win at Leeds in December 2020 – and Emerson.

Declan Rice skippers the side in midfield, where he will be flanked by Tomáš Souček and Paquetá. The Brazil midfielder will be hoping to notch against the Whites again, having notched his first Hammers goal at Elland Road in January.

Up front, Ings will lead the line with Jarrod Bowen and Thursday’s match-winner Fornals in support.

Among the substitutes are a wealth of attacking options in Michail Antonio, Maxwel Cornet, Saïd Benrahma and Divin Mubama.
