West Ham United boss David Moyes will need to take a late check on Vladimír Coufal’s fitness after the right-back was the victim of a heavy challenge from Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville on Wednesday night.
Coufal needed to be substituted following the foul during the second half of the 2-2 Premier League draw at Leeds United and the Hammers will assess his availability ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup third round trip to Brentford.
The manager also offered an update on Kurt Zouma, who continues to make swift progress following his knee surgery during the FIFA World Cup break, but will need further work on the training ground before making his return to first team action.
“We’re going to have to take a look at Vladimír Coufal, because he took a real clatter in the game the other night [at Leeds] and it should have been a sending off,” Moyes explained. “We will need to check him out.
“Kurt Zouma is getting closer, but maybe not yet. He’s only just going to start training, so we’re probably much the same [from Leeds].
“We’re trying to recover. We only played late on Wednesday night so we’re still trying to get the players back together and get them ready.”
Maxwel Cornet is continuing to work his way back from a calf injury suffered in the Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in October, with the manager revealing earlier in the week that he has received an injection to help remedy the issue.
