David Moyes will not put a time frame on returns from injury for defensive duo Issa Diop and Kurt Zouma, instead focusing on returning the pair to action as quickly as possible.
Both Zouma and Diop have suffered ankle problems in recent weeks – Zouma in the Premier League defeat at Brentford and Diop in last weekend’s draw with Burnley – meaning they will miss Sunday’s London derby at Chelsea.
With Angelo Ogbonna still making his way back from a serious knee injury too, that means the boss is likely to have to reshuffle his backline against the Blues, but Moyes is confident his squad members will step-up once again, as they have done all season.
“I don’t put timescales on injuries, but what I will say is that Issa has an injury and Kurt has an injury,” Moyes said in his pre-match press conference.
“We try not to put timescales on it because you’re always hoping you get your players back quicker.
“It’s really important that we can get them back and hopefully we do so as soon as we possibly can.
“We’ve got some injuries, but all clubs have got some injuries at this time of the season. I’ve got to juggle and find a way of getting something which gives us a defensive set-up.”
